KANCHENJUNGA BASE CAMP TREK
KANCHENJUNGA BASE CAMP TREK SPECIAL
Kanchenjunga base camp trek involves a trek to the base camp of world’s third highest mountain Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m). Mt. Kanchenjunga is situated in eastern Nepal and some parts of Sikkim. In Tibetan, it means ‘Five Treasures of Great Snow’ where five mountains make up a great Kanchenjunga.
Kanchenjunga trekking is unexplored and unspoiled Himalayan trail which leaves us speechless with its views on the way. The astonishing views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjunga itself and snow glaciers are a pleasure to the eyes.
The major attraction between this trek is Pathivara temple, Arun valley and Kanchenjunga conservation area. Pathivara temple is considered an important religious destination for Hindus from Nepal and India. Arun valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in Nepal.
Kanchenjunga conservation area is one of home to many endangered animals in Nepal. Birds like pheasant, red-billed blue magpie, shy dragon which is so rare are conserved here. Animals like red panda, snow leopard etc are also found in this region. The trek route consists of bamboo forests, chestnut and oak forests, local communities and beautiful rhododendron forests. This is considered to be more difficult and longer trek than others in Nepal because of the lack of facilities on the way.
The trek to Kanchenjunga base camp is becoming a major part of interest to the nature enthusiasts. They not only get to experience the majestic views on the way but also explore local tribes and their culture. The diversity of its landscapes from high lands of rhododendron forests to low lands of terrace fields and green forests makes this trek very special. It’s not just about walking here, it’s about experiencing the diversity of land, culture, climate and mountains. This trekking route is less crowded and more peaceful than other trek routes too. The Tibetan culture and life of monks can also be explored during this trek.
For the solitary travellers and trekkers, Kanchenjunga base camp trek will be one of the adventurous and satisfying treks.
